India’s AI Growth: New Engines, Skill Shift & Implementation Focus

India's AI growth is driven by three unique engines: GCCs, IT Solutions, and enterprises, fostering a skill landscape that prioritizes implementation over trial and error. A notable demand-supply mismatch exists, with hiring increasingly shifting from AI testing to direct integration into business processes.
“What attracts attention in our analysis is the introduction of three unique engines of AI growth. GCCs are building recyclable AI platforms and administration abilities, IT Solutions are industrialising AI deployment at range, and enterprises are installing AI straight into business process and decision-making. Together, they are developing a new skill landscape where implementation ability matters greater than trial and error,” Quess IT Staffing CEO Kapil Joshi said.
India’s AI Workforce & Demand Dynamics
He stated, more than 70 percent of India’s AI labor force currently holds duties outside typical AI experts, while almost one-third of all AI need is emerging from organization functions such as operations, customer care, marketing, governance, money, and labor force monitoring.
This need mix is the opposite of the supply base, where 72-74 per cent of the overall 9,20,000 labor force sits in AI-embedded functions and only 26-28 per cent are employed in core AI roles, claimed the report.
Shifting Focus to AI Implementation
Employers in India are currently seeking release of expert system in administration and scaling up operations, reflecting a shift in the employing trend of AI skill from testing to implementation, a report claimed.
The report found differences in job summaries. Global capability centres (GCCs) are working with for reusable inner AI platforms, business assimilation and governance, while IT solutions companies are hiring to supply AI throughout customer programs.
